Sometimes it’s easy to concentrate – other times it’s not. Now, with the help of meditation sounds mp3 downloads, you can enter deep concentration states at will.
Why do we meditate? Do we meditate so that we can sit quietly for a period of time. Do we meditate to relax – to disengage – to escape?
Yes, those are some of the reasons that many of us maintain a regular meditation practice. We can escape to a quiet, tranquil, peaceful place and “get away from it all”.
But, in reality, that is not the true goal of meditation practice.
Don’t get me wrong. There is great value in escaping to a quiet place and attempting to clear your mind – especially if the rest of your life is hurried, hectic and stressful (as most lives are today). But the real purpose of meditation is to acquire a skill – the ability to quiet the mind so that we can focus – to cultivate the ability to concentrate deeply. Yes, that’s right. The purpose of meditation is to learn to quiet and calm the mind so that we can maintain a clear mind UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE.
Yes, we do our meditation practice in a quiet place where we are undisturbed because we are not yet good at it. As we become better – through years of practice – we can learn to handle more and more interruptions. The first time we try meditation, our concentration may be broken by a creaking sound in the house. On day 22, we can concentrate right through the house creaking – but when the air conditioner kicks in, we lose it. On day 72, the air conditioner is no problem. But a dog bark outside breaks our concentration.
The goal (perhaps in YEAR 41) is to be able to sit quietly, meditate and maintain concentration; even with the TV on, kids running around you, and a fly crawling across your lips.
That is the real purpose of meditation – to develop that strength of focus and concentration in you.
Did you ever wonder why meditation – such a peaceful, calm, relaxing activity is practiced so often by martial artists? It seems like a contradiction that a martial artist – someone skilled in the art and practice of inflicting injury – would practice something as peaceful as meditation.
It is for the very reason I stated above. The martial artist practices meditation to train his mind to remain calm in chaos.
When we get excited or scared, our heart rate increases, our thinking becomes hurried (or even panicked) and our fine motor skills go away. The more excited we become, the more we need to rely on gross motor movement. For a martial artist, that means that all the fancy intricate manipulations and techniques are no longer possible. During high stress, only the simplest of techniques will be available in the artist’s arsenal. When a martial artist allows his mind to get excited, he gives up much of his advantage.
To avoid this, the martial artist practises meditation – quieting the mind in order to hold focus and concentration. He does this – not for the peace it brings during meditation practice – but for the skill he acquires – the ability to maintain a calm mind in the midst of chaos.
It is the same skill we need to have when trying to concentrate on writing a report while sitting in an open cubicle at work , or trying to talk on the phone while the kids scream in the background or, negotiating a new car deal in spite of the stress we feel.
But how many of us have 41 years (or 10 years – or even ONE year) to develop the ability to concentrate clearly?
When 4th century monks and martial artists needed to cook something, their only choice was to build a fire and hang the food over it. Today we have convection ovens, conduction ovens and microwaves. Technology has made our lives so much easier.
Years of meditation practice was the only way available to those same 4th century monks and martial artists if they wanted to attain a calm, focused mind. But today, technology, once again; makes our lives so much easier.
Today – if you can push a “play” button, you can achieve deep concentration states in less than 30 minutes.
The Deep Concentration mp3 meditation sounds audio file will gently guide your brain waves to the low Alpha state – the ideal region for focused concentration. You will be astounded how quickly your mind becomes relaxed, tranquil and focused. Without the endless onslaught of inner dialog and mental distractions, the mind is free to focus inwardly to the thoughts that you need to concentrate on.
Deep Concentration operates in the Alpha brainwave region so that the brain is calm and relaxed – but still alert. Deep Concentration does not put you to sleep or make you drowsy. It simply causes a state of “relaxed alertness”. This is the same mind state you are in when you are “in the zone”.
After listening to these meditation sounds, you will be ready to tackle those tough mental tasks. Your mind will be clear, relaxed, focused and alert.
The next time you need a completely focused mind – when your mind must be calm in the midst of chaos – put on your headphones and push “play”. After listening to a session of Deep Concentration your new, focused, resourceful mind state will allow you to face any challenging creative or mental task that life hands you.
